Summer Day Camps at the Y
The YMCA of Western North Carolina offers a variety of award-winning summer day camps throughout the region. Science, sports, arts, and adventure—we’ve got a camp for every child.

Located in Buncombe and McDowell counties, our Discovery Camps offer licensed childcare to rising first through sixth graders. Campers in Buncombe participate in theme-based weeks exploring arts, science and sports. All camps offer traditional activities such as swimming, camp outs, and adventure in addition to themed activities. Lunch is provided. Shuttle service provided among Discovery Camp locations in Buncombe County.

Creative Craze
Come graduate from the YMCA Camp Creative Craze this summer. Here our campers will advance each week with our new weekly themes to add to their own portfolios. Using our Asheville groovy community and our beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains our campers will forge new relationships, build new skill sets, give back to their community, and experience all that Western North Carolina has to offer as we blaze on through the summer months.

This summer, MusicWorks Asheville is partnering with the YMCA to help teach music with classes to campers through the Creative Craze Camp Location!

Location: Sand Hill Elementary

Hours: 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Mad Science
Join us at YMCA Mad Science Camp for an adventure through time and space. Science is found everywhere, from understanding what music is to why we share this wonderful planet with animals instead of dinosaurs. Asking questions and finding the answers will be our campers mission throughout the summer camp experience. As leaders we will be there to show that you don't have to be a scientist to love science.

Location: Haw Creek Elementary

Hours: 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Huddle Up
At Huddle Up our focus is not just on sports; we see this as an opportunity to develop our campers as well-rounded individuals. Campers will train the brain, bulking up their vocabulary each week as we learn terms which apply to each week's theme. Of course, we will model an active lifestyle; making sure to send your children home all worn out every evening. Through the use of sports, we will teach character, nutrition and teamwork, as well as social responsibility and work ethic.

Location: Estes/Koontz

Hours: 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

McDowell County Discovery Camp
Come join us in McDowell County at our Pleasant Gardens Elementary location. At Discovery Camp, we will submerge kids into the full summer camp experience, exploring the outdoors, games, hiking, camp songs, arts and crafts, climbing wall, swimming, field trips, crazy themes, special events, and develop self-confidence and long-lasting friendships. Campers will leave every day a little messy, with a huge smile on their face and the spirit of camp in their hearts.

Locations: Pleasant Gardens Elementary

Hours: 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
