DOMESTIC VIOLENCE WARRANT SWEEP
Burke County Sheriff’s Office joined law-enforcement partners across the country on Wednesday, October 22, 2015, for the 12th-annual National Family Violence Apprehension Detail -- also known as the “DV Warrant Sweep.”
The SWEEP was a day-long event, in which agencies across the United States attempted to serve outstanding family-violence war¬rants.
Last year’s SWEEP was a big success:
• More than 247 law enforcement organizations in 23 states participated.
• 3,522 Nationwide Attempts to Serve Arrest Warrants
• 842 Arrests
• 749 Law Enforcement Members Participated
The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office Domestic Violence Enhanced Response Team (DVERT) founded the SWEEP 12 years ago under the supervision of then-Detective Craig Roberts
This year the Burke County Sheriff’s Office arrested 14 persons for multiple charges. Four of those arrested were for charges of Domestic Violence- Protective Order Violation; Domestic Crime Trespassing; Assault on a Female; and Simple Assault. During the sweep others were also arrested for various crimes including one person for Communicating Threats and two for Child Support; Failure to Report New Address for a Sex Offender; Resisting a Public Officer; Property Crimes; Drug Charges and Driving While Licenses Revoked
