Drug arrests Murphy, NC

On June 1st 2017, the Murphy Police Department arrested Leon Dockery of Cherokee County, NC for Possession of Methamphetamine, Felony Maintain and Dwell, Felony Possession of Marijuana, Possession with intent to manufacture/ sell/ deliver Marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The investigation is still ongoing at this time. Officers with Probation and Parole, along with the assistance of Murphy Police Department were conducting a probation check on Leon Dockery when a substantial amount of marijuana and methamphetamine were located at the residence.
Mr. Dockery is currently being held at the Cherokee County Detention Center on a $10,000 secure bond.

Murphy, NC— Sheriff Derrick Palmer announced the May 25th, 2017 arrest of 48-year-old Steven Darren Stewart, of Hayesville, North Carolina and 33-year-old Lucius Cain Day, of Andrews, North Carolina, for violations of the controlled substances laws of North Carolina.
On or about May 25th, 2017 during the early evening hours, a vehicle in which Day and Stewart were occupying was observed driving erratically on Long Branch Road in the Marble Community of Cherokee County. A deputy made a stop of the vehicle to investigate the condition of the driver. While continuing his investigation, the deputy was given permission to conduct a search of the vehicle by the owner. While attempting to complete a search of the vehicle, Day attempted to flee from the scene. After being detained, a search was completed and approximately 10 grams of methamphetamine along with a small quantity of marijuana and paraphernalia, including scales, were seized.
Both Day and Stewart were arrested on scene and transported to the Cherokee County Detention Center. Stewart was charged with PWIMSD METHAMPHETAMINE, RESISTING PUBLIC OFFICER, POSSESS DRUG PARAPHERNALIA and placed on a $2,000.00 secured bond which he posted the same night.
Day was also charged with POSSESS METHAMPHETAMINE, POSSESS MARIJUANA PARAPHERNALIA, POSSESS DRUG PARAPHERNALIA $2,000.00 unsecured bond.

Both Day and Stewart are expected in Cherokee County District Court on June 26th, 2017.
Sheriff Palmer remarked, “We continue our aggressive efforts to control the drug trafficking in Cherokee County. Good work by our deputies getting a couple more off the street.”
