Pisgah Forest Manhunt Over, Suspect in Custody, Search continues for missing man

 McDowell County -- Phillip Michael Stroupe II was captured by the McDowell County Sheriffs at 1:30 am. 



The Transylvania County Sheriff's Office can confirm that the suspect, Phillip Michael Stroupe II, has been apprehended and is in custody at this time. Law enforcement throughout western North Carolina has worked throughout the night, and we are grateful for their support and assistance in the suspect's capture. Although Stroupe is in custody, the investigation is ongoing.

Stroupe was driving a Hendersonville man's stolen truck when captured. The man, Thomas Bryson,68, was missing from his home on South Mills River Rd Wednesday morning around 8:30 am, in the area there was a search going on to find Stroupe. Bryson was not with Stroupe and is missing.




Bryson is 5’9″ tall and weighs 175 pounds with a gray mustache and gray hair.
Bryson was last seen wearing a plaid, dark-colored shirt, dark brown cargo shorts, tennis shoes.
