Saturday the Onslow Police and FBI announced: Body of missing 3-year-old believed to be found.— Investigators say they have recovered a body believed to be that of a missing 3-year-old North Carolina girl. ... The Onslow County Sheriff's Office and the FBI arrested Earl Kimrey, 32, on Friday in connection with the girl's disappearance.
Kimrey the mother's boyfriend is jailed at Onslow County Detention Center under a $1,010,000 bond. An autopsy was done today to verify the identification of the child.
It was too late to save Mariah the moment the 911 call came in," FBI agent Stanley Meador said of the call the girl's mother made Monday to report her missing. "The arrest warrants are public record and the records speaks for themselves. We will not discuss any details related to the homicide investigation."
Kimrey removed the girl's body from the place where she died and knew her death was not natural, according to those arrest warrants.
Onslow County Sheriff Hans Miller said the girl's body was found by dive teams around 5:30 p.m. Saturday.
The body was in a creek in Pender County about 25 miles (40 kilometers) from the home Mariah shared with Kimrey in Jacksonville,
A warrant obtained said that Kimrey obstructed justice by "removing Mariah Woods' body from the scene of her death and did conceal Mariah Woods' death and body, knowing that Mariah Woods died from unnatural causes. The defendant acted with deceit and intent to fraud."
and that authorities believe that Kimrey "secretly disposed of the dead child's body."
Kimrey appeared in court today. He is scheduled back in December 18.
