RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) —WILMINGTON, N.C. (AP) -- Authorities say that Operation Patriot, an effort to reduce crime near where military personnel and their families live, has resulted in 153 arrests in four North Carolina counties.

U.S. Marshal Scott Parker tells media outlets that the sweep through New Hanover, Onslow, Wayne and Cumberland counties last week was a success. About 230 officers from federal, state and local agencies cooperated in the effort conducted from March 17 through March 19.

During the sweep, officers confiscated everything from firearms and illegal drugs to more than $4,000 in cash.

In addition to the arrests, officers served 315 outstanding warrants and conducted 238 searches of people on probation and their residences.
