Who Turned the Holiday Lights Out? Don't Feed the Squirrels!

A group "The Friends of Mears Park Group" decided to forego their holiday lights display this year, as squirrels destroyed the display last year.

The park is located in St. Paul, Minn.

The display is actually in their park, and apparently people visiting the park feed their furry friends and the squirrels turned out the lights

on the display.

Co-chair of the Group said t"he wires were coated with polylactic acid – a derivative of corn sugar, which is appealing appetizer for squirrels spoiled

by park visitors who won't stop feeding them."

The Friends group is now using a projector to create a kaleidoscope of snowflakes and light up the  trees in green and blue.

Labore has gotten complaints that the display is far too "anemic" this year.

"They try and lead them around the park," she said. "One guy was trying to get one to jump on him. It's a little disturbing."

Blame the "tree rats," La Bore said. "People look down from their condos or apartments and they want to see the twinkly lights," she said.

"Well, we can't have twinkly lights. It was probably this or nothing."

Well, it seems like these chubby squirrels aren't really the ones to point the finger at .... the people feeding the squirrels are...

Meanwhile, many places use projector lights for creating festive holiday displays.

It's a people thing, not the squirrels....

Lighten up and enjoy the holidays!
