Another Star Falls... Betty White Dies at age 99

It is with a heavy heart that we must announce the passing of Betty White today at age 99 on Friday, Dec 31, 2021.

The actress, who was known for her work in The Golden Girls, earned acclaim when she was in her 20s and 30s as a game show hostess and radio personality.

In the '70s she earned multiple Emmy Awards playing Sue Ann Nivens on The Mary Tyler Moore Show and Rose Nylund on the Golden Girls, roles that fans all over the world have cherished.

Betty White was an animal advocate and supporter of medical research, working with charities like the Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association and the Morris Animal Foundation.

“Even though Betty was about to be 100, I thought she would live forever,” her agent and close friend Jeff Witjas told PEOPLE in a statement. “I will miss her terribly and so will the animal world that she loved so much. I don’t think Betty ever feared passing because she always wanted to be with her most beloved husband Allen Ludden. She believed she would be with him again.”

"Betty White 100 Years Young" A film celebrating her 100th Birthday coming up on January 17, 2022 will go on as planned.

Film producers Steve Boettcher and Mike Trinklein said on CNN "We will go forward with our plans to show the film on January 17 in hopes our film will provide a way for all who loved her to celebrate her life—and experience what made her such a national treasure."

"Who doesn't love a party?!? This one is gonna be GREAT!" White said in a statement to CNN last week.
