Asheville Police Department Face Book Today: Check out how official this good boy looks in his ballistic vest! (Photo APD FB)

Although legally K9s are not required to wear vests, APD wants to ensure that our police K9s are safe and protected from harm. Ballistic vests protect a K9's vital organs from projectiles and edged weapons, ensuring the pup can go home unharmed after each shift. Thanks to an anonymous donation of $4,000, we've almost got enough funding to outfit every one of our K9 officers!

WNCTIMES Thanks You for protecting these amazing dogs in the line of duty!
