Greenville -- Greenville Police Dept Press Release -- A 13-year-old boy was walking his 8-year-old sister to a bus stop on N. Pleasantburg when he was struck by a vehicle that was possibly involved in a road rage incident.

The teenager was conscious before being taken to an area medical facility for evaluation and treatment. His condition at this time is unknown. The sister was not injured.

It began at approximately 7 a.m. this morning when the GPD Communications Center (9-1-1 Dispatch) received calls of a possible road rage between two vehicles near Rutherford Road at Wade Hampton Boulevard.

The vehicles, a Chrysler PT Cruiser and an unknown silver sedan- possibly a Honda, traveled to the area of N. Pleasantburg Drive at Mallory Road.

That's where the driver of the PT Cruiser lost control of the vehicle, traveled onto the sidewalk and struck the boy, who was thrown into the roadway. The driver of the PT Cruiser was taken to an area medical facility with non-life threatening injuries.

The unknown driver of the other vehicle involved in this incident fled the scene.

The collision also damaged power lines resulting in power outages in the immediate vicinity. Duke Energy is working to restore power but that process may be delayed as the GPD Traffic Reconstruction Unit continues its investigation.

Anyone with information regarding the identity of the other driver or the location of the silver sedan is asked to call GPD at 864-271-5333.
