Las Vegas -- March 27, 2022 A jury in Las Vegas has awarded $8 million to Lon Enwright, a 38-year-old
middle school special education teacher who sued Barley’s Casino & Brewing Co. after he was served cleaning solvents

instead of tap beer at a casino bar.

Enwright suffered permanent injury when he drank the cleaning solvent in December 2018 and lost his sense of taste, said his attorney, Andre Lagomarsino.

"Although Barley’s staff knew the lines were out of service for cleaning, the bartender offered Dr. Enwright the sample,” according to a news release from the law firm that represented Enwright.

The teacher, who also worked as a wine steward at Las Vegas Strip restaurants before the incident, continues to teach and coach basketball but has stomach and esophageal ulcers and is at increased risk of cancer, Lagomarsino said. The attorney characterized the jury award as compensation for “the loss of enjoyment of life.”
