Shooting at a Smoky Mountain rental cabin left a woman dead

Tennessee -- May 9, 2022: Sevier County Sheriff Ron Seals announced on Saturday a South Carolina man has been detained after a woman was killed in a shooting at a local rental property.

According to Seals, the Sheriff's Office got a 911 call from a rental cabin on Caney Creek Road in Sevier County about 1:00 p.m.May 7th, claiming that a woman had been shot.

Officers arrived on the scene a few minutes later and discovered a female victim of a gunshot wound inside the cabin. Julian A. Popoca, 21, of Wellford, South Carolina, was arrested and charged with 2nd Degree Murder in connection with the murder of the female after an investigation.
