Hyattsville, MD -- November 30, 2022: Just after 8 o'clock on November 27, 2022,
Hyattsville Police (HYP) Communications received

a call from a residence reporting an armed individual.

When the police came, they found the guy asleep in his room with an AR-15-style rifle with a short barrel and a black 30-round magazine in the magazine well. The accused was a 15-year-old boy.
Using a rifle shield, A/Sgt. Pile, Cpl. McCauley, Pfc. Cherry, and Pvt. Nasir then entered the house and approached the suspect's bedroom.
Officers entered the room and saw the suspect asleep on his back, holding an AR-15-style rifle with a short barrel and a black magazine loaded to the left of his torso. Cpl. McCauley swiftly removed the firearm from the suspect's possession and made it secure.
Two.223/.556 rounds from a 30 round P-Mag were placed into the weapon. Due to a dark adhesive material covering the serial number on the gun, officers were unable to detect it. Without incident, the defendant was taken into custody.
