Washington -- December 8, 2022: Today there are reports that the United States had retrieved Brittney Griner
from the Russians. Griner underwent a medical
evaluation in the United Arab Emirates, where the exchange took place, and is now flying home after being swapped for convicted Russian arms dealer Viktor Bout.
On Thursday morning, President Biden delivered a public address from the White House with Cherelle, Brittney's wife. Following the prisoner exchange, according to Biden, Griner is feeling positive. He continued by saying that the Russians were handling Paul Whelan's situation differently and pledged to keep negotiating for his release.
Cherelle Griner thanked President Biden and the administration for their efforts. “Today my family is whole,” Cherelle added.
