FLETCHER -- The Town of Fletcher was incorporated in 1989. 

 

Fletcher is in Hendersonville and is 6.1 square miles in size and the population in 2010 was 7,187.

The Town was founded in 1856, Dr. George Fletcher built a two-room home on Old Plank Road, which is now U.S. Hwy 25, which now runs right through the town (north-south) 

Calvary Episcopal Church, on Hwy 25 North, was consecrated by the Bishop of North Carolina in August of 1859.

Shortly after Dr. Fletcher built his house, the town started to grow. A blacksmith shop, a store and a tannery for visitors.

In 1879, the railroad came to Fletcher and the post office opened in 1859.
