Buncombe County -- December 17, 2025: The Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) has officially reclassified the death of 18-year-old Joseph Rose as a homicide investigation following the receipt of preliminary autopsy results.
Rose, who had been the subject of a missing person search by the Asheville Police Department since December 2, was discovered deceased on Friday afternoon.Discovery in CandlerOn December 12, at approximately 3:39 PM, Buncombe County Patrol Deputies were dispatched to the vicinity of 69 Gilbert B. Crook Road in Candler to assist the Emergency Operations Center with a report of a deceased individual.
