Buncombe County -- October 9, 2025: A death investigation is active after a fatal shooting was reported Wednesday evening on Kreston Drive, near the Madison County line.
Patrol Deputies with the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) responded to a report of a gunshot wound around 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Upon arrival, deputies discovered 55-year-old William Jennings Bryan Clay III, a resident of Kreston Drive, deceased.The Criminal Investigation Division and the Crime Scene Investigation Team responded to the scene and are actively investigating the incident.Sheriff Miller has assured the community that the incident is isolated, and there is no ongoing threat t
