NC -- August 25, 2025: With Labor Day weekend approaching, the North Carolina Governor’s Highway Safety Program has launched its annual "Labor Day Booze It & Lose It" campaign, a statewide enforcement effort to combat impaired driving. The campaign, which began on Monday, August 25, will continue through September 7, with local law enforcement agencies across Western North Carolina joining the initiative to keep roads safe.
The campaign comes at a crucial time, as Labor Day weekend is traditionally one of the busiest and most dangerous travel periods of the year. According to the N.C. Governor's Highway Safety Program, last year's Labor Day campaign saw 444 alcohol-involved crashes across the state, resulting in 11 fatalities and numerous injuries.Throughout the enforcement period, drivers can expect to see an increased law enforcement presence, including saturation patrols and sobriety checkpoints.
