Macon County -- October 9, 2025: The Macon County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO), in partnership with the United States Marshals Office, has concluded the investigations stemming from a major sex offender registry compliance operation conducted in late May.
On May 27, 2025, the agencies launched "Operation Safe Summer," an extensive effort to verify the residential addresses and compliance of all registered sex offenders in Macon County. With over 100 registered sex offenders in the county, the operation was a significant undertaking for law enforcement.Officers from MCSO and various assisting agencies divided into teams to cover multiple zones across the county over the course of two full days.
