Man Faces Felony Car Theft Charge in McDowell County

McDowell County -- August 20, 2025: The Sheriff’s Office charged Charles Williams Memsen, 52, of Marion, with felony Larceny of a Motor Vehicle. He received a $20,000 secured bond.
On Friday, July 25, officers responded to a residence in Marion about a stolen Ford Fusion. Memsen, who was the suspect, had removed the car from the property unlawfully.On Monday, July 30, a search of the residence found that Memsen had returned with the vehicle after spending several days in Buncombe County.Memsen was arrested and transported to the McDowell County Detention Center.Editor's Note: A criminal charge is an accusation, by law, a person accused of a crime is innocent until proven i
