Raleigh -- September 2, 2025: North Carolina’s agriculture commissioner state community has begun to receive much-needed checks, providing critical relief after a year of devastating natural disasters.
The payments are part of a substantial $478 million allocation from a statewide bill, passed in March, that was primarily focused on Helene relief.The legislative process began with the passage of the Disaster Recovery Act of 2024 (House Bill 149), which was signed into law by then-Governor Roy Cooper on October 10, 2024, to address initial recovery efforts.
