Asheville -- November 19, 2025: A West Asheville motor vehicle collision that occurred Sunday morning has resulted in the death of a pedestrian, according to a report released today by the Asheville Police Department (APD).
The incident took place around 11:04 a.m. on Sunday, November 16th, on I-40 West near Exit 44. APD Patrol officers responded to the scene following reports of a collision involving a pedestrian.The preliminary investigation indicates that 44-year-old Daniel Gardner (DOB 07/16/1981) was fatally injured when he walked into the main travel lanes of the interstate and was struck by a tractor-trailer. Mr. Gardner was transported to Mission Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Police co
