WNC -- August 25, 2025: A Rutherford County woman was found guilty of a child sex crime last week of First-Degree Sexual Exploitation of a Minor and one count of Second-Degree Sexual Exploitation of a Minor.
The investigation began on April 23, 2024, leading to the conviction.Destiny Nicole Gilliland received a sentence in accordance with North Carolina's Structured Sentencing guidelines. Gilland was sentenced to a minimum of 36 and a maximum of 104 months in the North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections.. She will be on supervised probation for a further 60 months after her release. For 30 years, Gilliland must also register as a sexual offender.WNCTimes
