Boone -- The Town of Boone Police Department 00 November 23, 2025: The Boone Police Department is saddened to announce the passing of retired K9 Meeka, a beloved working dog whose 6-year career left a life-long imprint on the department and the community she served.
Meeka, a Dutch-born Dutch Shepherd, arrived in the United States at two years old after being imported from the Netherlands. Trained exclusively in Dutch commands, she quickly proved herself to be a skilled and dependable member of the Boone Police Department’s K9 Unit under the guidance of her handler, Sgt. Miranda Bowen.
