Two Men Charged with Felony Drug Possession in McDowell County

McDowell County -- Ociber 3, 2025: A Deputy with the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged 44-year-old Charles Anthony Burnette of Old Fort with felony Possession of Methamphetamine, Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Misdemeanor Possession of Marijuana (up to ½ oz). He received a secured bond of $7,500.
On Saturday, Sept. 27, a traffic stop was initiated on a Jeep for speeding and driving in the opposite lane. Burnette, the driver, was found to be operating the vehicle with no license.A subsequent search of the vehicle turned up a suspected amount of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and marijuana.A passenger in the vehicle, Dwayne Dean McMinn, 44, of Old Fort was also charged with felony Possession of Methamphetamine.
