August 26, 2025: Today Rutherford County Sheriff's Office announced today Nathan Carpenter Beason entered a guilty plea to two counts of Death by Distribution in Rutherford County Superior Court. He received a sentence in the North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections that ranged from 134 to 186 months (11 to 14 years).
One of the accusations stemmed from an event that was looked into by the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office in March 2022 after deputies were called to a deadly overdose. On October 17, 2022, the Sheriff's Office finally obtained warrants. The Sheriff's Department launched a separate investigation in 2020, which led to the second charge. On December 30, 2024, the Police Department obtained warrants for Beason. Both agencies' investigations resulted in Beason being charged. On August 18, 2025, E
