Buncombe County -- April 29, 2024: Buncombe County Government Community News: High school students looking for a memorable learning experience for the summer of 2024

can apply for the Resource Conservation Workshop held at NC State University’s campus. This workshop, hosted by the North Carolina Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services, offers lectures along with hands-on and outdoor activities related to soil, aquatics, forestry, wildlife, and current environmental issues.

Buncombe County Soil and Water Conservation District (BCSWCD) will cover the cost of registration and food for two students.

The weeklong workshop will focus on a wide range of conservation topics with participants delving into hands-on activities about natural resources and their management in today’s global environment.

Registration fees, most meals, and transportation will be provided by BCSWCD. If you would like to nominate a student or students, please have them complete the application and submit it to BCSWCD. After applications are returned, a short interview of the applicant may be required in early May.

The workshop will be held on June 16-21.

The program will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Students who have an interest in natural resource conservation are encouraged to apply.

The application deadline is May 1. Please send the completed application via email to Rose Wall and Jen Knight at environmental.educators@buncombecounty.org or mail to: Rose Wall and Jen Knight, 49 Mt. Carmel Rd, Asheville, NC 28806.
