Escaped Rutherford Prisoner Arrested

Spindale-- April 29, 2024: Spindale Police Department Press Release: On 4/28/24 at approximately 1:02 PM, the Spindale Police Department

was notified by DOC-Rutherford Correctional Center located at 549 Ledbetter Rd about an escaped inmate.

The inmate, Roy Steven Buff, escaped the prison after running through an opened gate. He fled on foot towards New Hampshire St and Ledbetter Rd and was last seen running through the yards near the 300 block of New Hampshire St.

Buff was incarcerated at the Rutherford Correctional Center for Assault Inflicting Serious Injury and was last seen wearing a grey t-shirt with green pants and tennis shoes. Mr. Buff has numerous tattoos including “BUFF” on his neck, a 4-leaf clover under his right eye, and a teardrop under his left eye.

Spindale Police located and arrested Buff.
