Flack's breakthrough came in the late 1960s when she signed with Atlantic Records. Her debut album, "First Take," captivated audiences with its emotive performances and introspective lyrics. The iconic track "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" catapulted her to international fame, earning her a Grammy Award for Record of the Year in 1973.

Throughout her illustrious career, Flack continued to mesmerize listeners with her soulful renditions and poignant songwriting. Hits like "Killing Me Softly with His Song" and "Feel Like Makin' Love" further solidified her status as a musical powerhouse, garnering multiple Grammy Awards and cementing her legacy in the annals of music history.
