FBI: $10,000 Reward for Info on Planned Parenthoof fire

COLUMBIA, MO—The FBI Kansas City Division is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual/s responsible for intentionally igniting a fire at the Planned Parenthood facility,

located at 711 Providence Road, Columbia, Missouri.

At approximately 4:05 a.m., Sunday, February 10, 2019, an individual wearing dark colored clothing was seen on surveillance video walking onto Planned Parenthood’s grounds from Providence Road. The same individual was captured on video departing Planned Parenthood’s grounds, still on foot, toward the north, as smoke emanated from the facility. The Columbia Fire Department responded to the scene, however the blaze had been extinguished by the facility’s fire suppression system. The building was unoccupied at the time.

The FBI Kansas City Division has opened a federal hate crime investigation into this incident and will continue to work jointly with the Columbia, Missouri Police Department and the City of Columbia Fire Department. The FBI is charged with investigating federal civil rights violations, to include violations of the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act. Under the FACE Act, it is unlawful for a person to intentionally damage or destroy the property of a facility because it provides reproductive health services.

Anyone who was in the area of the Planned Parenthood facility during the early morning hours of Sunday, February 10, 2019, and may have information regarding the individual/s responsible for this crime is urged to call the FBI Jefferson City Office at (573) 636-8814 or submit a tip online at fbi.gov/tips.

As this is an ongoing investigation, we are not able to comment further at this time.
