McDowell County -- The McDowell County Animal Shelter August 14, 2021

Update 8/14/2021: Oreo has been found! There are still 5 dogs and 1 cat missing. Please report sightings with time, location, what the animal was doing( running, sleeping, walking) to 828.652.4000 (the shelter is closed Sunday and Monday but this number will pass on info). You can also message our Facebook messenger or email animalshelter@mcdowellgov.com. If you are able to get a picture, please message or email.
These are all the missing dogs from yesterday’s wreck on I-40. There is also 1 cat missing but I do not have a photo. She is a 1 year old gray tabby with white. Please contact us 828.652.6643 with any sightings. Our email is animalshelter@mcdowellgov.com
Epic Animal Recovery has recommended minimal foot traffic searching for the animals. The crash site is so close to such a busy highway and too much noise and people may scare the animals and we don’t want them to run out onto the road. If you are looking to help, I recommend contacting the ASPCA.
