Haywood County -- Haywood County Emergency Services August 25, 2021

Effective 10 p.m. Wednesday, August 25, a late-night curfew has been established for the storm affected areas (see attached map) that are currently behind "Road Closed" signs, particularly in the Cruso community.

What this means:

- No travel in or out of the affected areas between 10 p.m. - 6 a.m. except for work or to seek medical care.
-Everyone in these areas should be inside a home by 10 p.m.
Why is a curfew needed?
- Due to ongoing repair work to the roads, travel after dark in these areas is dangerous.
-There have been reports of thefts in the area.

Affected Areas:

-Along NC 110 from Max Thompson to US 276 and from US 276 from the NC 110 intersection south into Cruso. Including any area marked "Road Closed" by NCDOT, the Haywood Sheriff's Office or Haywood Emergency Services.
See Full Proclamation at: https://www.haywoodcountync.gov/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=638
Persons violating the curfew will be subject to N.C.G.S 166A-19.31. Any person who violates any provision of this declaration shall be guilty of a Class 2 Misdemeanor in accordance with G.S. 14-200.20A.
