Haywood County -- August 25, 2021 Haywood County Emergency Services continues to give Tropical Storm Fred updates

as the county recovers from the storm. Below is the latest update providing information.

Cleanup help: call 828-222-3975
Search efforts: There were 77 people and 8 excavators in the field today working on the efforts to locate the final missing person from the floods last week.
Damage assessment: Assessors are on the ground now working on completing their task. If you need to report damage you think they might miss please call 828-356-2022.
A damage report is being prepared now to present to the state and federal authorities to request additional resources. This report must be as accurate as possible and takes time to prepare.
Debris Removal: Contractors will begin the debris removal process no later than Monday. Demolition materials will be removed first, followed by vegetation. Please sort piles for removal.
Repair permits: Please contact Developmental Services at 828-452-6638 to request repair permits.
