Buncombe County Man Sentenced to 11 to 15 Years in Prison for Drug Trafficking
(October 7, 2021) –

The Buncombe County District Attorney’s Office has announced that Demarcus Dequan Scott of Buncombe County has been sentenced to 140-186 months in prison after pleading guilty to drug trafficking and possession of firearm by a felon charges.
Mr. Scott has an extensive criminal history of more than 70 criminal charges dating back to 2009 including numerous assaults, stolen motor vehicles, possession of firearm by a felon, DWIs and drug trafficking charges.
On April 1, 2021, SCET Deputies from the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office responded to community complaints regarding a residence on Misty Lane in Candler. Mr. Scott was found to be in possession of 90.6 grams of fentanyl, 7.5 grams of methamphetamine, 15.1 grams of marijuana, $14,253.00 in U.S. currency, and a Kel-Tec PMR-30 firearm at the time of his arrest.
His charges from April 1, 2021 were:
- Possession of a Firearm by a Felon
- Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance
- Trafficking Fentanyl
- Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
- Probation Violation
Mr. Scott was previously arrested on December 1, 2020 by SCET and BCAT Deputies and was charged with:
- Possession of Firearm by Felon
- Trafficking in Fentanyl By Possession
- Trafficking in Fentanyl By Transportation
- Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule IV Controlled Substance
- Possession of Stolen Firearm
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Mr. Scott has also been arrested by the Asheville Police Department multiple times.
