FEMA -- Haywood County at a Glance Release Date: November 9, 2021

Since the federal disaster declaration for Tropical Storm Fred, Haywood County residents have received more than $13.9 million in federal funds as of Nov. 9, 2021:
$2,453,497 in FEMA grants to homeowners and renters.
$9,246,331 in claims paid to National Flood Insurance Program policyholders.
$2,270,800 in U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) low-interest disaster loans approved for homeowners, renters and businesses (as of Oct. 31, 2021).
Individual Assistance in Haywood County:

443 homeowners and renters have been approved for $2,453,497 in federal grants through FEMA’s Individuals and Households Program. 

This includes:$2,074,619 in Housing Assistance grants for home repair, home replacement, and/or rental assistance.

$378,878 in Other Needs Assistance grants to replace essential household items and for other critical disaster-related costs.

232 homeowners and renters have been approved for rental assistance.

975 home inspections issued; 966 completed.

Disaster Survivor Assistance Teams (DSAT) went door to door in Haywood County, conducting outreach to 1,355 households to offer help with registration and provide referrals to other resources.
A Document Drop-off Center operated in Canton until Oct. 2 to help survivors with registration, application updates and referrals.

Two FEMA mobile units operated in Canton Sept. 18-24 to help survivors with registration, application updates and referrals.
 

IA Assistance in Canton:374 homeowners and renters have been approved for $2,168,301 in federal grants through FEMA’s Individuals and Households Program. This includes:$1,849,774 in Housing Assistance grants for home repair, home replacement, and/or rental assistance.

$318,527 in Other Needs Assistance grants to replace essential household items and for other critical disaster-related costs.
188 homeowners and renters have been approved for rental assistance. ·
 

IA Assistance in Clyde:49 homeowners and renters have been approved for $251,110 in federal grants through FEMA’s Individuals and Households Program. This includes:$195,813 in Housing Assistance grants for home repair, home replacement, and/or rental assistance.

$55,297 in Other Needs Assistance grants to replace essential household items and for other critical disaster-related costs.
39 homeowners and renters have been approved for rental assistance. ·
U.S. Small Business Administration:

SBA operated a Business Recovery Center at Haywood Community College Regional High-Tech Center, 112 Industrial Park Drive, Room 3021, Waynesville, N.C. 28786 through Nov. 8. SBA has approved $2,270,800 in low-interest disaster loans to 52 applicants (as of Oct. 31, 2021).
National Flood Insurance Program:

NFIP has paid $9,246,331 to policyholders who filed claims.
Public Assistance:

Haywood County was approved for assistance for debris removal, emergency protective measures and permanent work Sept. 8, 2021.To date, 13 Requests for Public Assistance (RPAs) have been received; 8 eligible; 3 pending FEMA RPA review. 2 pending recipient review
The state has held applicant briefings.
