Asheville -- Dec 6, 2021 Asheville Police Department would like to ask the public’s help for any information

they may have regarding an armed robbery Saturday night in which a group of suspects stole another man’s car at gunpoint.

Three black males carried out an armed robbery around 9:40 p.m. on Watauga Street.

They approached a victim who was heading to his vehicle, placed two guns to his head, and took his keys. The victim says three of the men were armed with guns and put on black face masks as they approached him.

One suspect was described as smaller, possibly a young teenager; another one was taller and older, wearing a gray hoodie. Officers are investigating the robbery.

The stolen vehicle is a brown 2012 Honda Civic, N.C. plate number JHS5607. The front driver’s wheel well has a scrape, and there is a South Erwin parking pass in the rear windshield, as well as a “LU” (Liberty University) magnet on the rear of the vehicle.

The suspects appear to have attempted another armed robbery in the same vicinity just minutes prior, but were unsuccessful, as the driver told police he quickly drove away.
