Asheville, NC (Jan. 20, 2022): Asheville Police: 

Detectives arrested Bobby Bruce Kirkpatrick (03/05/1988), of Asheville, for First Degree Murder for the death of Robert Kirkpatrick, 65.

Officers responded on May 25, 2021, at 10:21 pm to Sweeten Creek Road for a domestic disturbance. When officers arrived, Robert Kirkpatrick was deceased. Detectives initially investigated the death as suspicious.
After a lengthy investigation in cooperation with the Office of The State Medical Examiner, the cause of death was determined to be homicide by mechanical asphyxiation (constricting the airway, or lungs.) As a result, detectives were able to charge the decedent's son, Bobby Kirkpatrick.
APD thanks Henderson County Sheriff's Office in the apprehension of Kirkpatrick.
Kirkpatrick is currently being held at the Buncombe County Jail without bond.
