North Carolina -- May 2, 2022: An aggravated assault was reported April 29, 2022, on Hillsborough St. near Brooks Ave., according to NC State University Police. Four individuals in a car were claimed to have driven past people walking in a group and fired numerous plastic projectiles from a pellet or air propelled gun, striking two of them.

The suspect description provided by the witness is a driver and three passengers, who are described as all white males, unknown clothing description, unknown age, unknown hair style/color, and unknown height/weight. The vehicle the suspects were operating was a silver in color, 4-door pickup truck last seen leaving the area traveling east on Hillsborough St. Please contact University Police at 919-515-3000 with any information you have related to this crime.

NC State University Polce: The campus community is always encouraged to take the following steps to keep themselves safe:
- Assailants are more likely to target individuals walking alone, on darkened or unlit paths, or who are distracted by headphones or activities such as texting.
- Walk in groups whenever possible, especially at night. Even in groups, be aware of your surroundings for yourself and the safety of others in your group.
- Do not wear earbuds, headphones, or listen to music while walking alone.
- Safety Escort Services and public transportation are available as alternatives to walking. Individuals can contact Safety Escort Services at 919-515-3000.
- If you feel unsafe or threatened in any situation, trust your instinct and contact University Police immediately to report suspicious activities or crimes on campus by calling 911 or 919-515-300.
