Asheville --  May 11, 2022: An investigation involving an arrest by Asheville Police Patrol Officers responding to a commercial larceny Sunday night resulted in many counts of larceny and breaking and entering for a couple of thieves in other cases.

Around 6:25 p.m. on May 7, APD Patrol Officers responded to a larceny in progress at a business on the 1600 block of Patton Ave. A female suspect had fled the site shortly before the officers arrived, but they were able to track her down in the neighborhood. However, as they approached her, she fled on foot. Officers continued their pursuit on foot and were able to catch up to her quickly.
The police arrested her and took her to the Buncombe County Detention Facility to be booked. The APD Patrol Officer grew suspicious while en route that the female had given him a bogus name. During an in-custody interrogation at the jail, the female admitted to officers that she had provided them a phony ID and that she and another person had committed additional breaking and entering offences. Officers learned the true identify of the female suspect and her accomplice as the investigation progressed.

As a result of the initial arrest, Dawnina Jump was charged with the following:
