Body Found in McDowell County is Missing Asheville Man

McDowell County -- September 10, 2022: The NC Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has confirmed that Gabriel Focaracci's remains were found on August 8 in a remote area

off Curtis Creek by sheriff's deputies and rescue workers. He was last seen on June 24 at his home in Asheville. No foul play is thought to have happened.

On June 26, Focaracci, 20 years old, was supposed to go to a show with friends, but didn't show up. Deputies say that Focaracci's car was found in northern McDowell County, near a trailhead near the Blue Ridge Parkway. 

“We send our condolences to the family of Mr. Focaracci”, states Sheriff Ricky T. Buchanan, “and we hope this brings some closure for them.” “I am very proud of the efforts by our detectives, along with our partnering emergency service agencies that assisted with this search and recovery.”
