APD Investigate Crash That Killed Passenger

Asheville -- October 2, 2022:Asheville Police are investigating death of a passenger in a car that collided with another car Friday at 1:16 p.m. near Patton Avenue

and New Leicester Highway is being looked into by Asheville Police.

Robert Gantt was driving a 2000 Saturn westbound on Patton Avenue. His wife Julia Gantt was also traveling in the car.
For reasons that are yet unknown, Gantt's car turned into oncoming westbound traffic and slammed into Jack Ingle's 2010 Ford van.
The next of kin was informed after Julia Gantt, who was riding in Gantt's car, passed away from her injuries on the site. Robert Gantt, the operator, was taken to Mission Hospital in stable condition despite suffering major injuries. The other car's driver and passengers were unharmed.
The crash is currently being investigated by APD.
