Buncombe County -- October 21, 2022: Buncombe County Government reported 4,490 voters utilized the County's 12 early voting locations as of today, which marked the start of the in-person early voting session

in North Carolina. Over two dozen p eople utilized same-day registration, bringing the total number of voters in the county to over four hundred and fifty once the registrations are processed. On www.buncombecounty.org/vote, daily voter turnout is reported.

“We are thrilled with the turnout for early voting,” said Election Services Director Corinne Duncan. “As you might expect, we’re pretty passionate about ensuring that everyone who can vote has that opportunity, so a turnout like today’s is really invigorating. It was especially fun to see first-hand the enthusiasm over our new ‘I voted’ sticker, designed by 10-year-old future voter Polly Crutchfield.”

In the 2022 Primary Election, roughly 45% of voters opted to use early voting, 51% opted to cast their ballots on Election Day, and 2.98% opted to cast their ballots absentee by mail. Visit the Vote Patterns Dashboard to see voting trends going all the way back to the 2013 election.

Early voting is available till November 5. Please be aware that there will be no early voting on October 22–23. Voters will notice two new early voting sites this year, as well as one at the Friendship Community Center. Voters might notice construction activities and equipment on the property as the Wesley Grant Southside Center is still undergoing a park expansion. At this site, please use caution. Any early voting location offers curbside voting for voters with mobility issues, and absentee ballots delivered in the mail can also be returned there.

Before you leave for early voting, check out the wait map. here

At several of the bigger areas, there were queues for voters. When early voting is scheduled, Buncombe County provides a widget that displays the number of voters in queue at each location in real time. The only time the wait map is accessible is during early voting. Before leaving, take a look at it here. Go to the Wesley Grant Southside Center, the Friendship Community Center, or the Elections Warehouse for a short or no wait.
