On October 19, officers from the Waynesville Police Department, the Maggie Valley Police Department, the Canton Police Department, North Carolina Probation and Parole, and the Criminal Suppression Unit/Narcotics Unit of the Haywood County Sheriff's Office took part in a massive operation aimed at drug traffickers in our neighborhood.
Significant arrests and seizures were made in addition to the numerous traffic stops, K9 deployments, and searches. 37 people were detained, 57 charges were brought, and 16 warrants were served as a result of the seizure of 63 grams of methamphetamine, 112 grams of fentanyl, 2.4 grams of cocaine, and 6.8 grams of opiates.

Sheriff Greg Christopher said, “this was an outstanding effort on the part of not only Sheriff’s Office Criminal Suppression Unit/Narcotics Unit personnel but also our other local partners and Probation and Parole. This is a perfect demonstration of what true cooperation and collaboration between agencies can accomplish. I appreciate our police chiefs for wanting to work together with us to target the traffickers that continue to destroy people’s lives. This operation has made a huge dent in the amount of narcotics being sold and delivered to our citizens in Haywood County.”
