Colorado Mass Shooting Leaves at Least 5 Dead, 18 Injured

Colorado Springs -- November 20, 2022: The shooter, Anderson Lee Aldrich, 22, entered the club and started firing a firearm at people right away, according to Colorado Springs Police Chief Adrian Vasquez.

At 11:56 p.m., the first 911 call was placed, and the first police officer arrived at midnight. Two minutes later, Aldrich was taken into custody. Vasquez said on Sunday am that "at least two brave persons inside the club approached and fought with the suspect and were able to stop the suspect from continuing to kill and harm others."

Three hospitals received shooting victims who required medical attention there. Ten went to Memorial Central, seven to Centura Penrose Hospital, and two to Memorial North.

Late on Saturday night in Colorado Springs, a shooting at a nightclub left five people dead and 18 more hurt.

One suspect is being held by police and receiving medical attention for wounds at a nearby hospital.

According to Lt. Pamela Castro, a spokeswoman for the Colorado Springs Police Department, the shooting at Bar Q, an LGBTQ club in northeast Colorado Springs, is being investigated. The Denver office of the FBI posted on Twitter that the agency is helping with the investigation.

In a Sunday morning Facebook post, Club Q described the attack as a hate crime and expressed its devastation:
“We thank the quick reactions of heroic customers that subdued the gunman and ended this hate attack,”

Giovanni Bowden, who was working there at the time, said that one victim fled the scene and entered a nearby 7-Eleven before passing out.  "One of the victims had gotten shot seven times and ran over here, trying to get some help," he said. "He collapsed. That's why that caution tape is out in the front there.

Bowden claimed that more people from the club arrived to the shop. Some of them attempted to stabilize the victim by applying pressure to wounds, along with a coworker.

Connecting now more than ever is encouraged by mental health professionals as horrific shootings and the pandemic clash in Colorado.

Castro declined to reveal what kind of weapon was used and claimed that a reason for the shooting is still unknown."This scene is going to take some time to get through,” she said. “We will be here for many, many hours to come.”

Early on Sunday, after a gunshot at Club Q in Colorado Springs, police were present. Sunday, November 20, 2022.
According to Castro, there were no officers involved in the incident.

She stated that survivors of the tragedy who were unharmed were reunited with their loved ones. For more information, Castro suggested contacting the Colorado Springs Police Department.

Compared to other states, Colorado has the most mass shootings. We all have trauma to process, according to survivors.
Beginning about 11:57 on Saturday night, the police got numerous 911 calls. A significant police presence was visible in early Sunday morning video from the scene.

34 firemen and 11 ambulances also responded to the event, according to Colorado Springs Fire Department spokesperson Mike Smaldino. Several persons could be carried at once to neighbouring hospitals by certain ambulances.

Latest information: Police identified the gunman as 22-year-old Anderson Lee Aldrich, who was in custody and being treated for injuries.

At least 5 people dead, 18 injured.
