Man Shot, in Critical Condition

Asheville -- September 8, 2023:  A 68-year-old man was shot late Wednesday night, and the Asheville Police Department is currently investigating the incident.

On Tuesday at around 10:48, APD patrol officers responded to the 400 block of Mount Clare Avenue for a report of a person shot. After receiving the call, the responding Patrol officers found a male with gunshot wounds to the chest and leg. Before emergency medical services came, officers acted swiftly to provide first aid. He was in critical condition when he arrived at Mission Hospital.

Detectives have identified a person of interest and are actively investigating this shooting.
