Man Faces Felony Charge After Police Chase

Rutherford County -- September 25, 2023: Rutherford County Sheriff's Officers attempted to stop a motorcycle on US Highway 221 South yesterday. 

Deputies pursued the operator, Mitchell Eugene Harris, into South Carolina, where he was apprehended. Methamphetamine and a loaded 9mm Taurus were found in Mitchell's possession after an investigation of the area. After a further search, the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office seized the firearm and methamphetamine.

Currently detained in South Carolina, Mitchell Eugene Harris is scheduled to be extradited to North Carolina, where he will face charges related to felony fleeing to elude arrest using a motor vehicle.
