Mitchell County --  October 12, 2023: Yesterday, the Mitchell County Animal Rescue, Inc., in conjunction with the Mitchell County Sheriff's Department, visited a residence that was overrun with dogs.

All of the animals were fed, watered, and vaccinated, but the conditions for the homeowner and dogs were less than ideal. The Rescue agreed to remove 45 dogs from the residence after speaking with the owner.

A temporary shelter has been set up by the Rescue and needs the support of the community. Donations to cover the costs of care and supplies. Items such as toilet paper, towels, and blankets are needed, and food has already been donated.

A few extra dog bowls made of stainless steel would be useful. The shelter or the sheriff's department can accept donations of supplies. The shelter will is closed today.
