Asheville -- November 8, 2923: Officers from the Asheville Police Department (APD) promptly arrived at the 270 block of Deaverview Road at around 6:02 p.m. Saturday in order to investigate a reported incident involving a gunshot wound.

Police discovered that following the shooting, a passerby found the injured person and proceeded to transport them to Mission Hospital in order to receive medical attention for many bullet wounds in their back. The officers successfully located both the vehicle and the victim in the vicinity. The injured individual was sent to Mission Hospital in critical condition. 

Police officers attempted to establish communication with the shooter, who remained concealed within the residence, refusing to come out.  Following the issuance of search warrants, detectives successfully obtained authorization to search the individual responsible for the shooting, who has been identified as Perry Godbolt. Subsequently, following a short standoff, officers from the Speciality Unit were able to safely take Godbolt into custody.

During the search of the residence, officers located six firearms and a large amount of narcotics.

Godbolt was booked into the Buncombe County Detention facility under NO BOND (ineligible for release) due to the N.C. Pre-Trial Integrity Act.
