Asheville -- December 23, 2023: The aftermath of a late-night gunfight that claimed the lives of two individuals is under investigation by the Asheville Police Department's Forensic Technicians, Detectives, and Officers.

At around 11:20 p.m. on December 22, APD Patrol Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of New Leicester highway in response to reports of a gunshot wound. Inside the establishment, they discovered the body of a man who had been shot.

Officers were informed by dispatchers half an hour following the first report that a patient suffering from a gunshot wound had been transferred to Mission Hospital. Their injuries were too great, and they too died despite rescue attempts. Until Detectives finish notifying the next of kin, information about the two shooting victims' identities will not be released.

Detectives are asking if anyone has any information about this case to send an anonymous tip by texting TIP2APD to 847411 or using the TIP2APD smartphone application (search "Asheville PD" in your app store). You can also contact APD at (828) 252-1110.
