North Carolina: The TIP (Turn-in-Poachers) Program pays rewards to persons who provide information that results in the arrest and conviction of persons who have committed certain wildlife offenses.

Rewards range from $100 to $1000 depending on the severity of the crime and the fines assessed by the court.

NC WILDTIP (Turn-In-Poacher) Reward Program

The NC WILDTIP reporting system is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. After the N.C. legislature’s inception of the Wildlife Poacher Reward Fund Rule, the NCWRC established the NC WILDTIP (Turn-In-Poachers) program as a silent witness, anti-poaching program that encourages the public to report any suspicious activity or knowledge about poaching violations.

The TIP Program pays rewards to persons who provide information that results in the arrest and conviction of persons who have committed certain wildlife offenses. Rewards range from $100 to $1000 depending on the severity of the crime and the fines assessed by the court. A complete list of eligible violations is listed further down on this page.

All tips will remain anonymous, however, to be eligible for the reward your name and contact information must be provided to NCWRC.

Please note, that the following individuals are not eligible to receive reward money:

Any current Wildlife Resources Commission employee or members of their immediate family;
Any current Wildlife Resources Commissioner;
Any sworn law enforcement officer;
The perpetrator of the crime for which the information has been given and any accomplice or accessory to that crime; and
Any individual who refuses to provide the Commission with his or her name and contact information.

  • We have had multiple reports of an individual calling and claiming to be from the Haywood County Sheriff's Office (specifically Chief Trantham or Lt. Greathouse). They are trying to convince our citizens to pay them money or go to jail because they have missed jury duty. Additionally, they are calling from a number that rings back to our dispatch or from a private number. THIS IS A SCAM. No one from our office will ever call and request money for any reason. You may also reach out to law enforcement if you feel you have been a victim of this scam. You can reach the Haywood County Sheriff's Office Non-Emergency line at 828-452-6666.
    You may also find more information and report the scam on the Federal Trade Commission website below:
